It is so very apparent that Mike and I have no infant experience. Last night did not go well - maybe that means Aiden will be a vegetarian! :-)
Parenting Mistakes 101:
1. So, when starting your child on solid food it's probably best to do that when he is NOT tired. If he is yawning 30 minutes before you start, pick another time.
2. Don't just plop a tablespoon of meat down and expect a harmonious eating experience.
So we get Aiden's feeding chair all set up and get him in it. We plop a pate-like consistency of ground beef down on the tray and start to have at it. Then we think "Maybe we should put a bib on him." Hmm, good idea. Then Mike is trying to feed him meat with a spoon. For a kid who likes to put absolutely EVERYTHING in his mouth, it did not go well. Sure, everything is fine as a temporary guest but swallowing is another idea.
So we had to abandon ship after about 5 minutes. This morning we mixed it with some milk to make a runny beef stroganoff-like consistency. Sounds appetizing, huh? It went better this morning, but I think just as much came out as went in. It continues to astonish me the things a person has to learn - like swallowing food. You would think that would be pretty basic. But no. Oh well, the three of us are learning together.
Here are a few pictures from last night (again, the video files are too large to upload. And I have no idea why they are so yellow. I'm still figuring out my toy.):
